Bark Beetles in Utah Forests

In this webcast Matt Hansen of the US Forest Service discussed bark beetles in Utah Forests. Hansen is an entomologist with the Rocky Mountain Research Station in Logan, Utah and has worked mainly in spruce beetle systems since 1997. His past research involved environmental determination of beetle life cycle duration and resulting outcomes on host mortality. Additional projects focused on trapping strategies and trap catch interpretation. Currently, Hansen is investigating the impacts of mountain pine beetle outbreaks on lodgepole pine system productivity and nutrient cycling.
