The USU Botanical Center Tree Evaluation Project

On January 22, 2013 at 12:00 p.m. MDT, USU Forestry Extension hosted the third "Learn at Lunch" webinar. JayDee Gunnell, Horticulture Associate Professor with USU Extension presented information about the USU Botanical Center's tree evaluations and new tree selections.

Though we all know species diversity is a sign of a healthy urban forest, we still end up using the same “favorite” trees over and over. We want trees that have a proven track record of success and cannot waste time and resources on experimenting with new options. Thankfully, that is where JayDee and USU Extension come in. Over the last 5 years JayDee has partnered with J.F.Schmidt Nursery to test possible species, varieties and cultivars for Utah’s unique landscape challenges. After this hour long webinar you are guaranteed to walk away with some good ideas to mix up your spring planting projects.
