On May 27, 2014 at 12:00 p.m. MDT, USU Forestry Extension hosted the 17th "Learn at Lunch" webinar featuring Gloria Edwards and Génie MontBlanc.
The Southern Rockies Fire Science Network and the Great Basin Fire Science Delivery projects are two of 14 Joint Fire Science Program Knowledge Exchange Consortia. The purpose of these projects is to increase access to locally and regionally relevant fire and fuels science information and peer networking. We expect public and private land managers to benefit from these projects by having a place to go for answers to technical questions and to communicate technical needs. We expect scientists to benefit by gaining new ideas and partnerships for research, and by providing new methods of outreach for research results. A little about the speakers:
Gloria Edwards is the program coordinator for the Southern Rockies Fire Science Network, and brings experience in forestry, firefighting, grant-writing, archaeology, and private business to the region to help build a cohesive fire science network. She is a graduate of the University of Maryland and Northern Arizona University.
Génie MontBlanc is the Project Coordinator for the Great Basin Fire Science Delivery Project, located at the University of Nevada in Reno. Génie received dual Master’s degrees in Biology and Resource Economics from the University of Nevada and has conducted fire and ecology related research for the University, the Forest Service, and the Agricultural Research Service.
