On June 24, 2014 at 12:00 p.m. MDT, USU Forestry Extension hosted the 18th "Learn at Lunch" webinar featuring Roger Kjelgren and Larry Rupp.

We all know that trees need water to grow.  But, now that summer is here and waterwise landscaping is all the rage, how can we make sure our urban trees are getting the water they need?  Join this Trees and Water seminar to learn the science and techniques to ensure tree success and responsible watering.

A little about the speakers:

 Roger Kjelgren:

 

Tree water use and the impacts of water stress on landscapes, forestry, and fruit production threads together Roger's research, outreach, and educational responsibilities. Roger has an undergraduate and Masters degree in Soil Science and a PhD in Forestry from the University of Washington. He has been a Professor in landscape horticulture at USU since 2006.

Larry Rupp:

 

Larry Rupp is a native to Taylorsville, UT and has been on the faculty at USU since 1984. He helped establish the Center for Water Efficient Landscaping at USU and the Masters of Professional Studies in the Horticulture Program with it's Water Efficient Landscape Management Specialization. He also helped in adapting the qualified water efficient landscaper certification program for Utah. Larry and his wife have 5 pretty good kids and 8 perfect grand kids, most of whom know how to pull weeds!
